What if you don’t want to have your driver’s licence scanned when visiting an estate?

This is a sticky question, but under the bylaws of the individual estates, if you refuse to present your driver’s licence for scanning, they can legally refuse you entry. <insert link to news section and include intro para above as well as sub-headline>

However, it must be noted that the estate is under an obligation to inform you how and for what purpose your information is being processed. This means that it cannot infringe on your privacy and it must not be kept for longer than necessary. It also cannot be used for marketing purposes, unless of course you give permission for it to be used in this way. Exid abides by the specifications of the PoPI (Protection of Personal information) Act and encourages its clients to become PoPI compliant. Read more about Exid’s Privacy Policy here
